Waterloo Sunsets

Speaking of Belgium … today is the 201st anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo (thanks Denali, for the reminder).
This lovely gouache, espresso, charcoal & graphite portrait is of Albert Dieudonné who played Napoleon in the 1927 epic 330 minute French silent film, Napoléon, which was directed by Abel Gance. I saw the first half of this film in my teenage years at Cinema 21. Also included in this series: Johnny Cash, Mick Jagger, Nick Cave, Joe Strummer & the incomparable Mark E. Smith.
Comes in a “temporary” frame.
